I’ve been playing golf on/off for the last 15 years now and to this day, I’m still stumped that golf bag makers don’t make a fair amount of good golf bags with the added ‘padding’ on the right side of the golf bag!
For clarification: If you were to walk into any Pro shop and look at any of the ’stand bags’ which may line the walls and/or sales floor…You’ll notice that all the bags have ‘padding’ on just one side..which is usually on the left-side of the bag, to help protect ‘right-handed golfers’….Yet, I myself don’t carry my bag in a way where I need padding on the ‘right side’..but rather on the left side of the bag…as when I go to grab my bag after a shot and start walking up to my next shot, I always grab the bag with my left hand and swing it over my left shoulder first, then using the now customary ‘dual strap’, swing the other strap over my right shoulder.
Why is it it’s easier to get fitted for proper golf clubs, but it’s so hard
These exist. Contact or check out golfsmith store near you, I’ll attach the link.
Just about all of the major bag manufacturers make "left-handed bags".
Hope you find one you like.
Here is my golf swing, it’s pretty obvious that my left arm breaks down. So, any help there would be appreciated. Also, I lunge to my left side with my upper body. Can someone recommend some drills for a proper pivot on the down swing?

This may sound a bit harsh…..(though it s not intended to be) From the video there are too many areas of your swing that are problematic to even begin to offer suggestions here…..My advice is to take some lessons from a teaching pro. It will be a step by step approach as there are problems visible all the way from set up through to your your finish.
Looking to buy a golf glove for my dad for Christmas, and I know he is left handed, so was wondering which hand would I have to buy the golf glove for?
Is it usually the top (proper dominant hand) while swinging? So would that make it be the right hand?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
It’s the right hand, if he uses left handed golf clubs. Some people that are left handed actually use right handed clubs, because they learned the game with someones hand me down clubs that was right handed. So double check that, but assuming he plays with lefty clubs, he needs a right hand glove. and its a great present for a golfer. A nice new glove is always welcome!
I have been playing golf for about 6 years now, and I’ve really been working on my game the last 2 years. I’m on the cusp of breaking into the 70’s and trying to search for every little detail to help get me over the hump.
I’ve been told in the past that a softer ball would work better for me do to my swing speed (I’m usually between 95 & 100mph). I’ve heard that balls like the PRO V1 won’t help my game, because I don’t swing hard enough to compress them. Right now I’m hitting Precept Laddies. I have hit Callaway War Birds, Nike Juice, and Top Flight D2’s. Hard to tell which went further because I’ve hit them at different times and my swing is better now and I have a new driver.
Is there any truth to this?
Most importantly, what ball/balls would work best for my swing speed (for maximum distance)?
Maybe I will get some in my stocking from Santa this year
Thanks,
JC
There are that many golf balls on the market that do so many different things, balls that suit different courses, balls that react differently off the club head, balls that fly higher, balls that spin further etc etc…
If you feel you have a decent short game but you could shave some strokes of it then change to ball like the Callaway HX, Titleist PRO V1, even the Bridgestones, these balls dont sacrifice distance but they will give you control on the greens. You dont want a balll that will give you max distance, you would be flat stopping that ball on a lake let alone a putting surface.
Grab a sleeve of soft compression balls and head to to the practise green, get the feel for the ball then try the course.
I know you tube has a bunch with swing vision, which is real nice…but im looking for an angle from up top, almost like a sky camera. i really want to see the path for a proper inside out…i know every says you need that… but i want to see how long after impact does the swing need to be on the target line…before going to the "outside" portion of the swing.
Try videojug.com. Click on Sports & Fitness, then Golf. Many different angles to view from.

Pivot and Plane Golf Trainer – mid 1980s Need Instructions – Clear Plastic Sheet with lines – mounts on mirror?
This a training aid I bought from a place in Florida. It has lines on it to help determine proper golf pivot and swing plane. I lost the instructions and am not exactly sure how to use. Anyone have the instructions or can help me figure out how to use properly?
I’m new to golf. What’s the proper way to swing, and what’s the best club to start out with on the driving range — a 7 iron?
It can’t be expressed in words. Go get a lesson.
I’ve seen the Super Swing Trainer; essentially a pvc pipe constructed circle on a specific geometric angle that, when swung along gives you the feel of the proper swing path.
I want to try and build one myself. Where can I find plans? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
try looking in hardware stores.
The best teaching pro in your area is the person you should visit to get the basic lessons on golf. He will go through all of the golf swing from the grip you use on the club, how the heel of the club should sit on the turf, your stance in relation to the ball, the manner of developing the proper swing plane which includes the back swing, the position at the top of the swing, the downswing and the ultimate follow through with your belt buckle facing your target.Once you develop the proper tempo you then add the speed to the swing. Practice diligently after every phase you are taught. Repetition is the secret to good golf.
