One thing Greg was always good for, playing dominate golf for three days in a row. My uncle once played with him in a charity tournament, and asked him afterward what his biggest problems were. Greg told him that he had a LOFT problem. A LOFT problem?? Yes, he told my uncle that his problem had to do with a Lack Of ing Talent. Its funny I guess. I mean, its sounds like something I would say so I can’t hate on the guy.

Technically, Greg’s …
Technically, Greg’s swing was always very sound & he was able to shoot great scores and be very successful.
But he repeatedly seemed to lose his rhythm & timing under pressure, so in final round head-to-heads and play-offs he struggled. His iron play against Faldo at Augusta in ‘96 was terrible, for example.
A superb golfer though – anyone can get lucky if they peak in major week, but overall consistency is far more important. His record in the World Rankings is unequalled.

he won 2, when he had the lead going into the final round 12 times and won once when leading after 54 holes. His other one he shot 64 in the final round to win. He has won a lot and had the previous record for consectutive weeks at world number one, He will definitely get into the hall of fame if he isn’t already in.

This guy should have won the grand slam though back in 95 or 96 when he had the Saturday Slam. You can’t overlook the fact that he’s only won one major when having the lead after 3 rounds and having said lead too many times to count. I will not argue that some just seemed to be the roll of the dice like 86 and the 93 us open. he is still at age 53 the best driver of the golf ball ever to walk the planet. Not many can average 295 and right down the middle everytime like he did his whole life

I wholeheartedly agree with the two posts below. Norman did give away the 96 Masters, but it’s pretty unfair to overlook what Faldo did, too. A 67 on Sunday at the Masters should not be swept under the rug.
Additionally, look at some of Greg’s other major ‘losses’. Jack Nicklaus was absolutely destined to win the 86 Masters, and Bob Tway, Larry Mize, and Paul Azinger all hit near-miracle shots to win.

And also: People who think he’s a “choker” misunderstand the degree to which a competitive player, even a great one, can control the outcome of a tournament. In short, sometimes just happens. Tiger’s won tournaments (against lower-quality opposition, I’d say) when people made bogeys on easy holes in playoffs or when they otherwise threw up all over themselves for him. With Norman, guys did heroic things, pulled off shots against impossible odds, etc. It was going to happen to somebody.

Think about it: Inevitably, the odds would dictate that there was going to be one great player who would be bad-lucked out of more tournaments than other players who weren’t as good but who caught better breaks. Plus, every great player has shot a poor final round now and then. But Norman has had more than his share of people hitting very low-odds shots against him, when he was in better position than they were. It was inevitable that this would happen to somebody.

It doesn’t “always.” He’s won all over the world–a lot–and is a multiple-major winner. That’s not exactly dogging it.
Yeah. Terrible …
Yeah. Terrible scores like the final-round 64 when he won one of his Opens, or the final-round 63 when he won in 1993, still probably the best final round from first hole to last hole that I’ve ever personally seen. (Nicklaus in ‘86 shot a great back nine; I’m talking about 18 straight holes of absolutely nutting every single shot.)

Greg Is Content now in life, he has achieved more than most will ever do, he is truely a legend of the game, whatever the scoreboard says……….

Its a miricle he won two majors, despite being in contention for loads. He is not the longest hitter ever, there are figures that prove others hit it further. And yes, I wish I was as good as him, but this is not jealously, I just wish he had won more. “Better breaks” are an excuse, and a poor one at that. Something goes wrong in his head on the Sunday of a major, he shoots terrible scores consistently, and its cost him plenty

are you kidding? His swing is almost perfect and he is the straightest long-driver ever! He won like crazy and could have won a lot more if he got some better breaks. I’d like to see you do as badly as Greg Norman jjirl!

Well, he didn’t win, but my all-time favorite golfer now qualifies for the Masters! The top 4 golfers in the British Open qualify for the Masters. Hope to see him play it next year!
